My wife Misty and I brought our two little girls to Sardis City almost three years ago. Immediately God began to press on Misty that we were supposed to be in church. She told me that she wanted to find a good church for our kids to learn about God, I told her “ok, but I dont want to go to a big church”. Boy do things change. She passed by the sign in front of FLWC one day on her way home and told me that is where we are going Sunday. I fought with everything I had until that morning and I decided “may as well go so she will leave me alone”. The moment we walked in I knew this was a different church than any I had ever been in. It was relatively small, very loud, a little crazy, and most of all very friendly. We met Pastor Jeff the first time we visited and he introduced us to Pastor Joy, who by the way does an amazing job being the First Lady of the Church. The next Sunday when we walked in the doors and made our way to our seats Pastor Jeff came up and called us by name, right then I was hooked. We have come a long way since then, the church is busting at the seams, the youth under the leadership of Raven, Matt, Robin, and Pat, have started a revolution to take back Sand Mtn. Misty and I have gone from just sitting in the seats to being involved in many things. When I sit back and think about where I was before I came through those doors I can’t help but praise God. Who would have thought that in such a short time we could have made so many friends and become so involved. We have been through many things the past year or so but no matter what our church family has beeen right beside us every step. You could not ask for a more wonderful family than what we have at FLWC. Every time Misty went through a surgery or treatment or just didn’t feel well enough to go to church we could always count on someone to call or come by to check on her. Misty has an amazing testimony and it is not finished yet. I could not think of being anywhere else than FLWC. From getting me involved in the media team to going to 24to double to having Pastor Jeff giving me the honor of traveling with him as he preached at Meridianville CoG, I have been truly blessed with a great church family. And now as Misty and I prepare to teach our first ever small group class, I can only give thanks and praise to God for bringing to such an awesome church. In short I LOVE MY CHURCH because everyone there loves me and the Presence of God is so real there that you know God loves our church before you get to the parking lot.

I lived in Birmingham, Alabama most of my life where I was a member of Cathedral of the Cross Church. I moved to Boaz, Alabama in 1999. My first priority was to find a Bible believing, God-loving church. After 2 years of much prayer and visiting many churches I was inspired by a young man who frequented my office. One day I asked him if he knew of a Bible believing, Spirit filled, God-loving church. He smiled and said, “yes ma’am I do, do you have a pen and paper that I could write on?” I responded to his request and watched as he wrote the following on the paper: Free Life Worship Center, 838 church street, Sardis City, phone# 593-9633, Pastor Jeff Stanford. I couldn’t see the last line that he wrote, but when he handed me the paper, I read it. It simply said; The Church Love Is Building. He gave me directions to the church and the following Sunday as I approached the entrance of the church a gentle familiar greeting said, “come in, welcome to Free Life.” I immediately felt welcome. I discovered that it doesn’t take much, just a grain of faith to enter God’s house. As I sat there my attention was turned to a lady on the front pew that smiled, laughed and clapped her hands during the entire service. When the service was over, she came to me with a gracious smile, gave me a hearty welcome and invited me back. I wanted to get to know her. The only way to really get to know someone is to just hang out with them and spend time talking, laughing, crying or just sharing a meal. Just being together builds a friendship that will last a lifetime. And to this day (outside my church family) she is my best friend on Sand Mountain. As I drove away from the church teary eyed, I knew that God had answered my prayers and that He has a special place for each of us in His family. I had just received a welcome and love at Free Life that encouraged me to take a refreshing look at my Father’s heart toward me. I discovered a love in that church that surpasses the understanding. A love that would guide the rest of my journey home. A love you will want to share with your family and friends who are longing for a touch from the Father. An endless pursuit of love that we look for everywhere, in our homes, families, friendships, relationships, marriages and religion. I had finally found a church home until God calls me to my Heavenly home. So, in 2002 I became a member of the Free Life family.

I am 77 years old and I was never woman of the year, but I’ve always been a woman who fears God. I never abandoned my children or kept them from God’s house. One of the finest honors in the world is being a mother. I always thought that I had the value and inner strength to hold my family together. My top priority was always God, my children, my grandchildren and my family. I always wanted to be spiritually and morally strong for them. But, due to some family circumstances my life here on earth has been very troubled, and only God knows the pain.

On December 25th, 2003 with a life filled with family, a home, a good job, friends, possessions and money, I was suddenly assaulted on every side, devastated and stripped down to my foundation. One phone call and thirty minutes later, I learned that my very own child had taken my entire life’s savings and my monetary inheritance that I received from my deceased parents. Two months later, my precious dog died. I found myself in the process of losing two homes, lost my job, lost the presence of my son and two grandchildren, and almost lost my car and my health. Circumstances said that I wouldn’t make it, but with the help of my Pastor, Jeff Stanford, and my church family at Free Life I experienced a faith in God that I endured, and it taught me, like Job, that when all is gone but God, He is enough. Through tests and trials our part is simply to remain faithful because God expects us to express our faith to the world. God is a God of restoration. He has restored my health, and my sister in Christ at Free Life, helped me find a home, She and her husband, with all their talents totally restored my home inside. My home is under a reverse mortgage. God owns everything I possess and I may leave this world in poverty, because God doesn’t promise us tomorrow, but He does promise us eternity and a home in Heaven — Praise His name!

Thanks to my Pastor, his family and my church family, seemingly my life was now back on track. But once again in 2005 satan attempted to drive a wedge between me and God. I was stricken with a health problem. My doctor in Birmingham, Alabama told me that I would have to have a serious operation and he couldn’t assure me of complete success. My response to my doctor was, “I know a man who can.” Once again, my faithful Pastor and my best friend and her husband escorted me to the Birmingham hospital and remained with me throughout a complete and successful serious surgery. Satan had lost another battle. We must not fear satan’s attacks because satan cannot exceed the limits that God sets. We must remember that this life, with all its pain, is not our final destiny. Once we lose the will to fight, we are defeated. It is not the way we start — it’s the way we finish! It’s not how long we live, but how we live our life.

How wonderful it is to know that no matter what has happened to you, your Heavenly Father has made a way home for you. All you have to do is hear His call. Come and visit with us at Free Life and see for yourself. I guarantee that you will leave different from when you came. You will experience a church that love is building by Loving God, Loving Others and Serving the World. And this is just some of the reasons why I love my church –FLWC.

Thank you Pastor Jeff, Joy, Raven & Matt, Robin, Pat & Izabella and my church family for all your prayers, your love, concern and faithfulness! I shall never forget you!

Love and Prayers,

Sherry West Says: January 4, 2010 at 11:03 am e I couldnt agree more. I searched a long time I called it lost in the desert and went from church to church until I found Free Life. I found where God wants me and it is taking me awhile but I am doing some of the things I am suppose to do with God. My husband Bill says what impresses him so much is the smile Pastor Jeff always has on his face and gives everyone. And that is so true Pastor Jeff doesnt judge anyone he just prays for them. From what I have heard my vision and his are the same and he has a heart for the lost right here in this area. I have prayed for a long time for a place to worship like this. The church is full of gods love. Pastors Jeff and Joy are wonderful people and will be there anytime you need them

Raven Cannon Says: January 4, 2010 at 8:37 pm e I love my church because GOD is Awesome and all of Free Life is Awesome!

Laurie Dennard Says: January 6, 2010 at 8:26 pm e I love my church cause God is truely in this house of worship. The Holy Spirit has spoken through our Pastor on several occasions straight to my heart. In being open to the Holy Spirit I was delivered from a bondage that has held me back for years. As well as a new found love for my husband. I believe God has done a spiritual miricle in our marriage. We must be careful, cause Satan will come in immediately, especially when we are sick, to make us think differently. I’ve seen people healed, delivered, and salvation rendered. God is not finished with me yet. I’m looking forward in seeing what God will do in 2010. FREE LIFE WORSHIP CENTER ROCKS!!!!!!!

Jacob Smart Says: January 7, 2010 at 10:01 pm e I love my church because I love Jesus! Thank God for my family,my friends,my pastor, and for God himself who is all powerful and loving, and is moved not by my needs or wants, but by his Word alone! Free Life rocks!!!

Peggy Benefield Says: January 18, 2010 at 3:21 am e I have never been to a Church so filled with love and compassion. Pastor Pastor Jeff and Joy are one of a kind. God knew just what he was doing when he sent me to Free Life Worship Center! I feel love and not just pretend love but a true love like the love between Jonathan and David. Thats true God love! The people at Free Life are real and would be there for each other anytime night or day if needed and that is so rare to find. Pastor Jeff and Joy are the most loving, annointed people I have ever met and they don.t just talk the talk they walk the walk. And their family is so precious. Robin is one of the most loving people and very devoted to her church as well as Raven. The whole family is amazing and I am a Proud Member Of Free Life Worship Center and I love my Church!!!!

Free Life would not be so great if it were not for the people:) Free Life has helped me personally through some of the toughest times in my life! It’s hard to come to Free Life in a bad mood and leave the same way. The Lord is going to send someone your way to help you smile, laugh, or just see the beauty in the day that the Lord has made! So to all the Free Life lovers out there I want you to know that you are loved not only by God but by ME! Thank you for accepting me, my husband, and my baby girl!

Hey Everyone,

Its Patrick, I just wanted to let you guys in on a little secret. I LOVE MY CHURCH! I love my church for so many reasons and the foremost of them is Love. The love you show me, the love you show first time attenders, the love you show your pastor, the love you show one another. John 15:13″13Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.” This church really shows that in everyway. Now granted that were not dying in a literal way but in the way we lay down our own needs and wants for another. This truly is the church that love is building, i believe that with everything that i am. this church has brought me through some of the toughest times of my life and helped me put my world back together. and its my belief that with out the loving foundation no of what happens here on a weekly basis would happen. i could go on for days on why i love my church but im gonna stop for now.

I LOVE MY CHURCH!

Patrick Allen
